How they got here
Cray play in the Isthmian League Premier Division, the seventh tier. Stockport were top of the League One table on Friday, four divisions higher.
Cray reached the first round by knocking out Bedford Town of National League North. The fourth qualifying round tie at Bedford on Saturday 17 October finished 0-0. The replay at Flamingo Park on Tuesday night went to extra time at 1-1 and then to penalties at 2-2, according to the club’s match report. Ola Ogunwamide and Ade Yusuff, with a penalty, scored for Cray. Goalkeeper JJ Briggs saved two kicks in the shoot-out and Jakob Lowe scored the winning one to make it 4-3.
Before the draw the club wrote that Cray were seeking “a 1st Round place for the first time” in their preview. The Stockport game falls on Remembrance Sunday.
What the club said
In its announcement the club said the broadcast was “a great showcase as to who we are”, and credited “Gary Hillman and Michael Paye and all those and there are too many to mention here who have put in decades of work and graft”.
