Bromley's Charter Market trades daily from 10 to 24 December, 9am to 5pm. Chislehurst's market is Sunday 22 November; Handmade Palace runs 21 and 22 November.

Bromley’s Charter Market goes daily for Christmas from Thursday 10 to Thursday 24 December 2026, 9am to 5pm, on the council’s own market page. Before that, Chislehurst Christmas Market returns on Sunday 22 November 2026, and Handmade Palace, a craft market in the Crystal Palace Subway, runs on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November.

Updated 29 October: the council has published the Charter Market’s 2026 festive hours, every day from 10 to 24 December, 9am to 5pm. Chislehurst’s notice and the Handmade Palace listing are unchanged.

Updated 22 October: Crystal Palace Park has listed Handmade Palace, 46 makers’ stalls a day in the Crystal Palace Subway on 21 and 22 November, £2.50 entry. Chislehurst’s notice and the Charter Market page are unchanged.

Updated 1 October: Orpington has dated its festive street day, Light Up Orpington on Sunday 22 November, the same day as Chislehurst’s market. The Charter Market page still shows 2025’s festive dates.

Chislehurst Christmas Market, Sunday 22 November

The date came out early, and it came out in an unusual place: the stallholder recruitment notice. Visit Chislehurst published it on 6 August 2026, months before any public what’s-on listing, and that notice is the best source on the shape of this year’s market.

What it confirms:

  • Sunday 22 November 2026. That checks out as a Sunday.
  • The market runs in allocated bays in the High Street and also in the Old Chapel, so part of it is indoors.
  • It is run by Visit Chislehurst and The Chislehurst Society, supported this year by Go Travel UK.

The change worth knowing about as a visitor: there are no food stalls this year. The organisers say they will not be taking bookings for them “as we’ll be supporting the fantastic food businesses already based in Chislehurst High Street.” If you are going for mulled wine and a hog roast, that is the pubs and cafes on the High Street rather than the stalls.

Traders’ pitches are £55, or £40 for Chislehurst Business Group members, and applications close on Monday 28 September 2026. Spaces are limited and the organisers say they will confirm successful applicants after that date, so a stall list is unlikely before October.

Chislehurst High Street is 2.4 miles from Bromley town centre. There is no station in the village itself; Chislehurst station is a walk or a bus from the High Street, and the market is on a Sunday, when the parade’s own parking is the constraint.

Handmade Palace, Crystal Palace Subway, 21 and 22 November

The Paxton Centre’s arts and crafts market returns to the Crystal Palace Subway on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November, 10am to 5pm both days, with 46 stalls each day from independent makers across south London. The park pitches it as a place to find something for Christmas (Crystal Palace Park).

  • Admission £2.50 for visitors aged 16 and over, paid at the door. Under-16s are not charged.
  • Dogs are welcome.
  • The Subway has no step-free access, and pushchairs have to be left at the top entrance.
  • The park gives the location as Crystal Palace Parade, SE19 1UA.

It falls on the same weekend as Chislehurst’s market, so the two can be done together.

Bromley town centre: daily from 10 December

Bromley’s High Street carries a Charter Market that has been running, on the council’s own account, for over 800 years. Its normal pattern is every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 9am to 5pm, in the pedestrianised section.

Over Christmas it goes daily. The council’s Bromley Charter Market page now gives the 2026 festive hours as “Everyday 10 to 24 December 2026: 9am to 5pm”. That is one day longer than last year’s run, which started on 11 December. Until late October the same page was still showing 2025’s dates.

The stalls are the market’s usual mix, on the council’s description: food, jewellery, crafts, vinyl records, fresh fish, fruit and vegetables. Entry is free.

The town centre’s festive trading is otherwise handled by Your Bromley, the Business Improvement District, and the one date it has fixed is the Christmas switch-on on Sunday 15 November, which brings market stalls, street food and a Christmas bar onto the High Street alongside the stage and the funfair. Elsewhere in the borough

Orpington. Orpington 1st, the town’s BID, has now published Light Up Orpington on Sunday 22 November, 2pm to 7pm, with the High Street pedestrianised from the War Memorial to Homefield Rise for “festive family entertainment and stalls” and a stage at the foot of Knoll Rise (Orpington 1st). It is billed as a switch-on rather than a Christmas market, and no stall list is out. It falls on the same Sunday as Chislehurst’s market. More on our switch-on page.

Beckenham. The High Street’s Christmas lights are crowdfunded by volunteers rather than funded outright, and last year’s appeal closed £7,600 short of its £24,000 target (JustGiving). No 2026 appeal had opened by 1 October, and nothing market-shaped has been published.

If a Christmas market appears in either town, it will most likely surface first the way Chislehurst’s did, in a call for stallholders rather than a visitor listing.
